Tezpur suits travelers using it as a practical, historically substantial stopover between Guwahati and destinations further into Upper Assam or Arunachal Pradesh — its position roughly 60 km from Bhalukpong (the Arunachal border) and 82 km from Kaziranga makes it a natural link stop.
