Sissu is a small village in the Lahaul Valley, sitting on the right bank of the Chandra River just past the Atal Tunnel on the Manali–Leh highway. Once accessible only in summer via the high Rohtang Pass, the tunnel has made Sissu reachable through much of the year, though it remains a quiet, offbeat stop compared to Manali on the other side of the mountain. The village is framed by the Gyephang Goh peak and known for its waterfall and clear views of Himalayan glaciers. Sissu suits travelers passing through toward Spiti or Ladakh who want a scenic overnight stop, as well as those looking for short treks and camping without venturing too deep into Lahaul. The Sissu Waterfall is an easy walk from the village, while longer treks head toward Ghepan Lake and Kugti Pass for more experienced hikers. Given its position right after the Atal Tunnel, Sissu also works as an acclimatization stop for travelers heading further into the high-altitude Lahaul and Spiti region.
