Doodhpathri, meaning "Valley of Milk," is a wide alpine meadow in Budgam district named for the frothy, milky-white appearance of the streams that run through it over pale stones. Sitting closer to Srinagar than most other destinations on this list, yet still largely bypassed by standard Kashmir itineraries, it delivers the same sweeping meadow-and-pine-forest scenery the valley is famous for, without the tourist infrastructure that's built up around the bigger-name hill stations. Doodhpathri suits travelers who want an easy, low-effort escape into classic Kashmir scenery without the crowds that come with the well-known meadows further afield.
