Nearest Airport: Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, Leh, approx. 420–460 km via road. Nearest Railway Station: Jammu Tawi Railway Station, approx. 700–720 km overall. By Road: From Leh, drive to Kargil (approx. 230 km), then continue to Padum in Zanskar (a further 230+ km, together taking 12–14 hours or more, often split across two days); the road is only open roughly June through October.

June–September: The only reliable window for road access, with monasteries and villages fully accessible. January–February: Chadar Trek season, when the frozen Zanskar River becomes passable on foot — an entirely different, expedition-level way to experience the valley.
