Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, is a glacial lake at around 12,400 feet in East Sikkim, close enough to Gangtok that it's become one of the most accessible high-altitude experiences in the state — a genuine taste of Sikkim's alpine scenery without the multi-day commitment that Gurudongmar or Yumthang require. The oval lake, fed by surrounding snowmelt, holds religious significance for local Sikkimese Buddhists and is framed by steep, often snow-dusted slopes. The lake suits travelers with limited time who still want a high-altitude Sikkim experience, as well as families and first-time visitors for whom Gurudongmar's altitude or Zuluk's remoteness may be impractical.
