Dayara Bugyal is a wide, rolling meadow at around 3,048 meters in the Uttarkashi district, reached by a short and comparatively gentle trek from the base villages of Barsu or Raithal. Its accessibility relative to other Himalayan meadows — a trek of roughly 8–9 km rather than a multi-day expedition — has made it one of the more approachable bugyal treks in Garhwal, ideal for first-time high-altitude trekkers as well as seasoned ones looking for a quick escape. The meadow suits trekkers, campers, and photographers drawn to open alpine grassland framed by views of Bandarpoonch and other Garhwal peaks. Both Barsu and Raithal, the two base villages, offer homestays and act as starting points for slightly different approaches to the meadow, giving visitors some choice in route. Dayara Bugyal is also popular as a winter trek, when the meadow turns into a snow-covered expanse well-suited to beginner-level snow trekking, extending its appeal well beyond the usual summer trekking season.
