Khati is a small Himalayan village in the Bageshwar district, the last motorable and inhabited point along the trail to Pindari Glacier — one of Kumaon's most accessible glacier treks. Sitting at around 2,210 meters and surrounded by dense oak, rhododendron, and deodar forest, the village retains a traditional Kumaoni way of life, with terraced fields and stone houses that have changed little despite its role as a trekking gateway. Khati suits trekkers using it as a base or overnight stop on the way to Pindari Glacier, as well as travelers interested in a quieter, more cultural stop than the trek's high-altitude stretches offer. Beyond its function as a trailhead, the village itself — with views toward Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot on clear days — rewards a slower visit, and its homestays give a genuine sense of remote Kumaoni village life rarely seen closer to the region's more developed hill stations.
